How to work with the Lazy Load Extension
Once the extension is installed, open the Site Settings window.
You’ll find two new options there: Optimize CSS files and Lazy Load.
Enable the Optimize CSS files option to reduce the amount of used CSS rules.
Enable the Lazy Load option to delay images loading. Instead, they will be loaded gradually when user scrolls through a page.
You can select the Placeholder Type for your images. This placeholder replaces images until they are fully loaded. Set this parameter as None if you don’t want to use it. Set it as Blurred and then a low-quality version of your image will be shown instead. Set the Spinner option if you would like to see a loading animation.
What else I can do to speed up my sites?
Optimize images on your site. Check if your images are compressed for web. Avoid uploading original high-resolution images, check their dimensions and resize them it it’s needed. It’s better to use jpeg format for photos.
Leverage Browser Caching. When a browser loads a page, it should download all the web files. Some files are small in size, but some of them, especially images, can be up to several megabytes. Such files take some time to be loaded. Also, each one of them makes a special request to the server. If these files should be loaded every time users load your page.
Browser caching can help in this case. If some files are stored locally in browser’s cache, they don’t have to be loaded every time.
To enable browser caching, edit your HTTP headers. More Info.
